Bright Spots’ Online Chronicles

Bright Spots’ Online Journals

Where students become the authors of their own life stories.

Welcome to our fourth grade online journals. Our students will be demonstrating their use of technology by posting various assignments throughout the year. Be sure to drop by our site frequently throughout the year to see what our young authors are sharing and leave a comment of encouragement for them. You might also want to subscribe with your email address to this blog so that you will receive an email whenever new items are posted.

Here Comes Summer

With summer break just a few days away, I am already dreaming of the relaxing days I will be spending at the beach. For me, reading a good book, listening to the waves, and laying in the sun make for the perfect vacation. It is the one place that I can truly relax and recharge my batteries for the new school year to come. Where will you be vacationing this summer? What will you do there? Go to your student blog and post about your summer plans. For our other visitors, leave us a comment on what the perfect vacation spot for you would be. Let the summer countdown begin!!!!

Dreams

Have you ever had a dream?  The fourth grade students in Mrs. Carrington’s class have been reading the book A Paradise Called Texas.  In the book, the main character, Mina Jordan, has a dream about getting help for her sick father from the Indians.  The dream seems almost real, especially after she meets the Indian doctor who helps cure her Papa.

As a class writing activity, the students wrote about their dreams to share.  We hope that you will enjoy reading them.  Look for them coming soon to the student blogs in Mrs. Carrington’s class.

Back to School Time

Yes, it’s that time again!  The 2011 school year is just around the corner, and I wanted to take a moment to welcome each of you back.  I hope that everyone has had a relaxing and fun-filled summer watching and playing baseball or softball, attending camps, going on trips, and spending time with friends and family.

To all my new students and parents, I am looking forward to meeting each of you on Thursday evening at Meet the Teacher time.  This is going to be a great year for us all! I hope that you are as excited about the new school year as I am.  To my students who are moving on to fifth grade, I will miss each of your faces in my classroom, but I know that you are all prepared for fifth grade and being our senior leaders.  Be sure to stop by and give me a hug anytime!  See you all soon!

Presidents’ Day- February 21

images

Today is President’s Day.  Go to the student site on the blog called Facts for Me.  Look up information on one of our past or our present U.S. President.  Take notes in your Language Arts spiral and then write a paragraph about what you learned.  After you have written your report, go to your student page and add your information.  Then add a picture of the U.S. President to your report.  Have fun!  I can’t wait to read your reports!
